Our Vision

District Ninja’s focus is to increase civic engagement and access to information through the study, analysis, and visualization of data and the arts. Through leveraging the visual arts and science, we believe we can empower people to participate in civic engagement in ways currently under-available. We envision a community where informed citizens are able to take advantage of the same quality of visualization for issues on a local issues that are seen on the national and international level.

Our Impact

District Ninja brings attention on civic issues through the combined volunteer efforts of data scientists, IT professionals, artists, and civic hackers who all use their combined skills to illuminate civic issues in a consumable and accessible manner.  Examples of these combined efforts include all night hack-a-thons, data driven food drives, meetup groups, and other related initiatives. This collective work allows us to assist in keeping citizens well informed on critical community issues such as real estate, crime, traffic safety, and access to healthy food.

In Summary: District Ninja hopes to serve as the crossroads between the open data movement and the ever increasing demand for a well informed citizenry.
